Purpose

The plugin is intended for shop owners who are legally required to sell certain products – such as alcohol, tobacco products, or media content – only to adults. It provides an efficient and GDPR-compliant solution for age verification directly in the checkout, without the need to leave the shop or integrate third-party services.

Possible Use Cases / Application Scenarios

  • Online sale of alcohol, e-cigarettes, and tobacco products

  • Protection of age-restricted media or content (e.g., FSK/USK)

  • Mandatory verification for specific country markets with age requirements

Usage

Customers who add an age-restricted product to the cart are directed to an intermediate step during checkout. There, ID data is entered for verification. If the age check has already been successfully completed, this step is automatically skipped for future orders.

Limitations / Notes

  • A successful verification is stored with a timestamp – ideal for returning customers

  • The age check only applies to products that are appropriately marked (e.g., via product tag or rule)

The configuration is done in the admin area under:

Settings > Extensions > My Extensions > Configure

The following parameters can be set there:

  • Minimum age / Maximum age: Define age limits per sales channel

  • Sales channel assignment: Activate the check only for specific channels

Wichtiges Plugin für unseren Shop

Haben uns einige Plugins zu diesem Thema angeschaut und uns für dieses hier entschieden, da es unserer Meinung nach die beste Nutzererfahrung bietet. Das Setup ist einfach und schnell erledigt. Der Support konnte mir schnell und kompetent helfen. Einzig könnte man die Grafiken noch etwas verschönern, dann wäre das Plugin optimal!
