Purpose of the plugin
For area-based products such as floor coverings, tiles or timber, it is important for customers to know what area a product covers and how the price is calculated. In the standard Shopware setup, these values often have to be calculated manually.
Dynamic area and price calculation
This plugin automates this process. If a product is enabled for area calculation in the admin panel, input fields for length and width appear on the product detail page. Based on this information, the product’s area is calculated and the price is automatically determined according to the dimensions entered.
Integration into the ordering process
The calculated values are clearly displayed on the product detail page and remain visible in the shopping basket and during checkout. In addition, the area details can be viewed in the admin area for each order item. Furthermore, the area calculation can be included in order documents such as invoices or delivery notes.
Installation
- Open Plugin Manager via Settings > System > Plugins.
- Upload, install and activate the plugin.
Plugin configuration
Extensions > My Extensions > Product Area Calculation > Configure.
Basic Settings
- Sales Channel
Select the sales channels for which area calculation is active. - Rounding of the calculation
Specify how decimal places are handled in the area calculation. - Number to increase/decrease the value in the input field
Here you can specify the increments by which the value in the input field can be changed. - Shopping basket button in case of incorrect configuration
Deactivate or hide the button if the area calculation is not set up correctly.
Documents
- The display of area calculation information for products can be enabled or disabled on invoices, delivery notes and storno invoice
Activate area calculation for products
Catalogues > Products > Select product > Specifications tab > Additional fields
Activate the area calculation for the respective product in the respective language here.
If the area calculation is active, the product price is based on the product dimensions.
Important note on product configuration:
For the plugin to function correctly, both the sales unit and the base unit must be set to 1 for the products concerned.
