Purpose of the Plugin
The plugin extends Shopware's currency management with automatic exchange rate updates. Current exchange rates are retrieved regularly and applied to the foreign currencies used in the shop.
Automatic Exchange Rate Updates
Exchange rates are retrieved regularly from the European Central Bank through an automated background process. Updates can be applied to all foreign currencies available in the shop or limited to selected currencies. This ensures up-to-date exchange rates without manual maintenance.
Individual Currency Adjustments
Individual surcharges can be configured for each currency. This allows exchange rate risks or fees to be taken into account. The surcharges are automatically applied to the exchange rates provided by the data source.
Limiting Exchange Rate Changes
To avoid unexpected effects caused by significant exchange rate fluctuations, maximum change limits can be defined. If an exchange rate change exceeds the specified threshold, the adjustment is limited accordingly. This supports controlled exchange rate updates.
Logging and Traceability
All exchange rate updates are logged. Among other things, previous and new exchange rates, applied surcharges, and information about the data source are stored. This enables transparent tracking of changes and supports analysis in the event of discrepancies or errors.
Installation
- Open the Plugin Manager via Settings > System > Plugins.
- Upload, install, and activate the plugin.

General
- Sales Channel: Select the sales channels for which the exchange rate update should be applied.
- Restrict to the Following Currencies: Limits automatic updates to selected currencies.
- Maximum Percentage Exchange Rate Change: Defines the maximum allowed exchange rate change per update.
Information
- Last Automatic Update Execution: Displays the date and time of the last automatic exchange rate update (UTC).
Logging
- Store Log Entries for X Days: Defines how long exchange rate update logs are retained.
Settings per Currency
Settings > Regional > Currencies > Select Currency
- Percentage Surcharge: Defines an individual surcharge applied to the calculated exchange rate.
- Last Update: Displays the date and time of the last update for the selected currency.
- Last Factor: Displays the last applied exchange rate factor.
- API Test: Performs a test request for the current exchange rate without updating the currency.
- Update Exchange Rate: Updates the exchange rate of the selected currency immediately.

An overview of all executed exchange rate updates is available under Settings > Extensions > Current Exchange Rates & Foreign Currencies > Current Exchange Rates Log.
