What are the expected costs for OpenAI / ChatGPT?

Our experience: Billing is based on TOKEN. 1 million tokens currently (as of 04/2025) cost USD 0.15 for the ‘gpt-4o-mini’ model In simple terms, the number of TOKEN used depends on the image size and how much data is delivered to/from ChatGPT. Depending on the AI model used, different costs are incurred, we use the ‘gpt-4o-mini’ as standard, which offers a very good price/performance ratio. For a 10MB image approx. 40000-45000 tokens are used, for a 3 MB image approx. 35000-40000 tokens. According to our tests, 1 million tokens were used with 20 of our test images, which corresponds to approx. 0.15 USD.
