Purpose of the plugin
In the standard Shopware version, there are two problems with sold-out products: if they remain visible, this causes frustration among customers because they encounter products that can no longer be purchased. If, on the other hand, they are completely hidden, this leads to 404 error pages, which is unfavourable both from an SEO perspective and for the customer experience.
We have therefore developed a plugin that solves this problem:
Hide products in an SEO-friendly way
If a product is no longer available, it is automatically hidden from categories and searches in the shop. However, the product detail page remains accessible via the original URL. This preserves the SEO structure and prevents 404 error pages from occurring.
Automatically hide variants
If only individual variants of a product (e.g. certain sizes or colours) are sold out, only these variants are automatically hidden. Customers therefore only see the variants that are actually available on the product detail page. However, the unavailable variants remain accessible via their original URL. This preserves the SEO structure and prevents 404 error pages from occurring.Better user experience
Customers only see products that they can actually buy in the categories and search results. This prevents unnecessary clicks on unavailable items and reduces bounce rates.
