Purpose
The plugin is used for complete management of sample products in the shop. It allows fine-tuned control via dynamic product groups, pricing rules, order limits, and visual identification. Shops can transparently offer free or paid samples, clearly highlighted at checkout and in customer emails.
Use Cases / Scenarios
- Customers may have up to three sample products in their cart simultaneously
- First two samples are free; others incur a fixed fee
- Distinct labeling of sample products in emails and cart views
- Combined purchase of sample and regular products in one order
Usage
Management takes place in the admin panel under Settings > Extensions > Sample Products. Rules for specific product or customer groups can be configured here. The "Sample Product" custom field is activated per product under Catalogues > Products. Button display and text options are configured within each rule.
Configuration Sections
Rule Management under Settings > Extensions > Sample Products > Rule “Default” or custom rule:
- Internal name, priority, assigned product groups or rules
- Pricing settings (free, X free, fixed price)
- Order number prefix/suffix, quantity restrictions, mixed orders
- Button position, type & text, cart labeling, info text
Product groups under Catalogues > Dynamic Product Groups:
- Name, description
- Condition: Custom field “Sample Product” active
Products under Catalogues > Products:
- Activate custom field “Sample Product” under Specifications
Email template under Settings > Shop > Email Templates:
- Use the template "ACRIS order confirmation with sample products" for the "Order placed" flow event
- Display of prefix/suffix and label when ordering sample products
Limitations / Notes
- The “cheapest X free” rule applies to all sample products in the cart collectively
- Button display options are limited to the product detail page
- Mixed orders must be explicitly enabled
