Purpose of the plugin

With the plugin "Individual product sorting in categories", the product sorting in your online store can be flexibly and individually customized. It allows you to prioritize specific products in a selected category according to certain criteria. You can name and use the new sorting individually for each category and it will then also be available for selection in the category sorting in the frontend. For the new sorting, you can use a basic sorting from the system (per categorie) and then adjust it with the prioritizations. This allows you to show your customers certain products first in the category and others at the end of the product list.

Application examples

  • You would like to change the product sorting for certain categories. You would like to display 3 special products (e.g. seasonal products) at the top of the list and two other products at the bottom of the list. The remaining products should be sorted from name A-Z as in the basic sorting.
  • You would like to create a new product sorting for a category, but you only want to rearrange a few special items and you want to do this easily in the backend.

Use of the plugin

After installing and activating the plugin, the new Sorting tab appears in the admin area under Catalogues > Categories > Select / create category. Here you can create a new product sorting for the selected category and prioritize the individual products.

Instructions for use

  • To change the priority of a product, double-click on the existing priority (e.g. double-click on the number "0").
  • By clicking on the three dots next to the priority, the product can be opened directly.
  • Use the search function above the product listing in the backend to find products more quickly (search by product name or product number possible).
  • The entry of the new priority can be confirmed by clicking on the check mark or canceled by clicking on the X.
  • Products with a higher priority are displayed at the front and products with a lower priority are displayed at the end of the product list.
  • Product priority "0" is the basic priority. New products are always implemented with this priority value.
  • The priority can also be a negative number, for example: "-10".
  • The newly created product sorting of a category cannot be duplicated and applied to another category. A new product sorting must be created for each category if necessary.

Setting options under Catalogues > Categories > Select / create category > Tab Sorting

  • Activate individual sorting of products: If active then the additional sorting will be added to the existing sortings in the Storefront. The new sorting will have sorting fields from selected default sorting (if not selected then it will load sorting fields from loaded sorting in the Storefront) and it will add additional field sorting based on the assigned priority.
  • Basic sorting: All products that have not been sorted forward or backward using the individual sort are sorted based on the basic sort.
  • Individual name of the sort: If no individual sorting name is specified, the default value "Recommended" from the text module AcrisSorting.defaultSortingLabel is used.

Section Sort products

  • Sales Channel: for which storefront the new category sorting should be displayed
  • Search Field: Use the search function to find products more quickly (search by product name or product number possible).
  • Productlisting: Display of all products that are shown in the product list in the category in the frontend. (product name, product number, priority)
  • Priority: To change the priority of a product, double-click on the existing priority. Products with a higher priority are displayed at the front and products with a lower priority are displayed at the end of the product list. The priority can also be a negative number, for example: "-10". Product priority "0" is the basic priority. New products are always implemented with this priority value.

After installing and activating the plugin, the new Sorting tab appears in the admin area under Catalogues > Categories > Select / create category. Here you can create a new product sorting for the selected category and prioritize the individual products.

Version Date Compatibility Changelog
5.1.4 17 July 2026 >=6.7.2.0 <6.8.0.0
  • - Fixed: The Individual Sorting tab no longer fails (showing no products) for dynamic product groups whose conditions use discount/cheapest price fields (e.g. "Discount %").
  • - Changed: For categories using a dynamic product group, the Individual Sorting tab now lists the same products/variants as the category "Products" tab preview and the storefront listing, evaluated on the selected preview sales channel.
  • - Added: New plugin configuration "Product display for dynamic product groups (Individual Sorting tab)" to switch between the variant display (default) and a main-products-only (Hauptartikel) display.
5.1.3 16 July 2026 >=6.7.2.0 <6.8.0.0
  • - Fixed: In categories using a dynamic product group (product stream), the Individual Sorting tab now evaluates the product stream filters with product inheritance enabled. Previously, variants whose filtered fields (e.g. manufacturer) are inherited from the parent product were not matched, so the tab could display only a single product instead of all matching products.
5.1.2 8 July 2026 >=6.7.2.0 <6.8.0.0
  • - Fixed: In categories using a dynamic product group (product stream), the Individual Sorting tab now resolves the actual product stream filters instead of the "assigned products" mapping, so it always displays the parent product instead of individual variants, and no longer shows outdated/missing products compared to the storefront.
5.1.1 24 June 2026 >=6.7.2.0 <6.8.0.0
  • - Fixed a performance issue where multiple uncached database queries were executed on every category page load, causing slow loading times especially when items were in the shopping cart (HTTP cache bypass). Added request-scoped in-memory caching for category sorting, sorting by ID, and available sortings lookups.
  • - Fixed a redundant double execution of the sorting logic per request by removing the duplicate event subscriber registration, as the SortingListingProcessor already handles the same logic.
5.1.0 8 May 2026 >=6.7.2.0 <6.8.0.0
  • - Added new plugin configuration option "Variant Sorting Mode" with three options: "Individual" (default, each product sorted separately), "Parent to Variants" (priority set on parent product applies to all its variants), and "Variant to Siblings" (priority set on one variant applies to all variants of the same parent product in that category).
  • - Fixed: Pagination in the Individual Sorting tab no longer resets to page 1 when clicking page 2 or higher.
  • - Fixed: Pagination in the Individual Sorting tab now correctly shows only the actual number of pages (no phantom pages).
  • - Reverted the parent product filter: the sorting tab now shows the same products as the Products tab.
5.0.12 4 May 2026 >=6.7.2.0 <6.8.0.0
  • - Fixes an issue where the individual sorting tab in the category administration showed a product variant instead of the parent product (Hauptartikel). The sorting tab now correctly displays parent products, so that assigning a priority automatically applies to all variants of that product.
5.0.11 9 April 2026 >=6.7.2.0 <6.8.0.0
  • - Fixes an issue where the individual product sorting priority was reset in other categories when updating the sorting for a product in one category with Elasticsearch enabled.
